My main focus as a teacher is to help folks practice compassion, experience joy & live wholeheartly. I act as a guide to break away from our cultural ideal of perfectionism to help folks live with more freedom. I love quotes, feeling inspired, connection, community & good music (the kind that makes you want to sing along). The practice of yoga has taught me that the true yoga is living off my mat. It is in the realness of a conversation, laughter & tears shared, and embracing authenticity. Throughout the years, I have done several yoga and therapy trainings. My journey as a yoga teacher started in 2007 and I will forever be a student of life.

“A moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life.” Christopher Gemer

My practice began when I finally became willing to quit fighting life.

Way to long stuck inside the prison of my mind, I was looking outside for a quick fix, if I was smart enough I would figure it all out. Victory, just around the corner, was mine, or maybe it was the next corner....

The definition of insanity is madness. Keep chasing definitions and you will come up with words like foolish and absurd. And yeah that is my mind when caught up in my ego. Chasing. Anything and everything. Ludicrous.

Yoga hasn't magically changed me into perfect person, or given me the perfect life either. I am not enlightened, as those who know me well will attest. Yoga does give me the opportunity to practice reverence in the present moment. And in that moment, the opportunity to consciously make choices. Yoga does create health both physically and mentally.

The Shelter provides a safe place to practice checking inside in a world that is constantly pushing and pulling us outside. Yoga challenges us to use our body, to explore our mind's reactions to the sensations created. With a warm room, some great people and sweet tunes, it's a great workout. Life, and our edge are constantly changing. Yoga just is. Everyday we roll out our mat, We get to take action while we practice acceptance and kindness towards ourselves. Then maybe, on a good day, we can share that out in the world.

Whether I am in front of the room or have my mat rolled out next to you I look forward to sharing the practice with you.

My journey into yoga began about ten years ago. At the time I was living in NYC working as a model. My work left me feeling empty inside, I knew there was more. I was drawn to learn about yoga and began studying and practicing at the Integral Yoga Institute. Soon after that I returned to Michigan and began practicing daily. Right away I recognized the many benefits of yoga. I then took a teacher training course and immersed myself in various styles of yoga including: Ashtanga, Kundalini and Bikram. I have also been trained in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Soon after, I began teaching yoga to kids ranging in ages from 3-13. Last summer I walked into the Yoga Shelter; it didn’t take long for me to realize what a treasure was awaiting inside. I completely connected on all levels with what was happening at The Shelter and the type of yoga that was being taught, Sanga Yoga... Community, exactly what I was looking for. I am so grateful for the teachings of Eric and Lisa. I have always been a seeker, looking for more understanding in life. I continue to learn and grow each day. When life’s greatest challenges come up, practicing yoga has helped me to remember who I am and walk with a little more grace. I look forward to sharing with you. Namaste
I came to YS in May of 2013 and never looked back. As my practice grew, so did my involvement with the yoga community. Being hired on as desk staff in Feb of 2014, and attending L/T Training the following April, there was no getting rid of me. I took on the role of Studio Director in our Royal Oak location a few months later and have grown so much. Now I am teaching yoga and using my musical talents around the community to spread love and light. Coming from a musical family, I have never been shy. I began my journey of self discovery around 18, by starting to show interest in ancient philosophy/texts and questioning my belief system. Deciding to become vegetarian 12 years ago and Vegan in April of 2014, I am very compassionate for the fellow beings on mother Earth. When I am not at the Yoga Shelter, you can catch me performing as a vocalist/keyboard player around the Metro Detroit area. My energy, dedication to being of service and thirst for knowledge, giving and receiving, is shown in my work. Let's continue to grow together.
